During the dangerous days of WW2, German Navy motor torpedo boats operated in the English Channel, searching for prey.

Stone, today's home of SSC was then home to British MTBs whose task it was to hunt down the German craft - both above and below the surface.

After the Allied invasion of France in 1944, Stone became a navy supply base, supporting the new Mulberry harbours and our forces in France.
