Stone Sailing Club Reunion
Saturday 13th June saw over 350 people gather at the club for a grand reunion to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Club.
Members past and present, with an age range of 1 to 90, spent their time catching up with old friends, and meeting new ones. The hog roast went down a storm and the digital photograph display caused more than a few laughs. Not only have fashions and hairstyles changed, so has sailing gear.
One attendee said he had not been at the club since the mid sixties and had been thrilled to meet up with several people with whom he had misspent his youth! Lots of families took the opportunity to use the day as a personal family reunion, one had four generations present.
Organiser Laura Wakefield said "I am thrilled with the success of the day. There was an amazing buzz of excitement, chat and laughter throughout the club, and it was a pleasure to see so many people enjoying themselves."
Commodore, Denise Robinson said, "The whole event epitomised the friendly and inclusive atmosphere of the club, with many past members signing up for Try Sailing Day and also Stone Week this year. We pride ourselves on making everyone feel welcome, and would urge anyone interested in sailing to pay us a visit."
